How to Play

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most strategically vital waterways. Navigate the US fleet safely from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman — but Iranian naval mines block the route.

  • Left click a water cell to reveal it. If it's safe, a number shows how many mines are in the 8 surrounding cells.
  • Right click (or long-press on mobile) to plant a flag on a suspected mine.
  • Click a numbered cell that has the correct number of flags around it to chord-reveal its remaining hidden neighbours.
  • The fleet ship advances as you clear a connected path westward through the strait.
  • Win when a safe corridor connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman.
  • Lose if you detonate a mine.

Difficulty Levels

  • Patrol (Easy) — Lighter mine density. Ideal for learning the geography.
  • Strait (Medium) — Standard challenge. Requires careful deduction.
  • Blockade (Hard) — High mine density. Only expert navigators survive.
