How is Expert mine density calculated?

Divide 99 mines by 480 cells and multiply by 100: 99 ÷ 480 × 100 = 20.625%. Density describes how tightly mines are packed; it does not by itself determine the difficulty or 3BV of one generated layout.

Why does Expert use 99 mines?

The site follows the familiar 30x16, 99-mine preset. This site's own content does not establish the historical reason that exact count was originally selected, so it does not invent one.

Can you change the mine count?

Yes. Use a custom board to select different dimensions and a valid mine count. Use the 3BV calculator to measure a particular board's clearing workload, or play No-Guessing mode when you want the Expert preset with solver-verified deduction.
