What is a good Minesweeper efficiency percentage?
Minesweeper efficiency is the board's 3BV divided by the recorded action count, multiplied by 100. Exactly 100% means the action count equals the board's 3BV. A score above 100% is possible because chording can reveal several cells in one recorded action. There is no universal percentage that proves a player is good across every board, mode and client.
What does an efficiency score mean?
| Result | Direct interpretation |
|---|---|
| Below 100% | The run used more recorded actions than the board's 3BV |
| Exactly 100% | Recorded actions equal 3BV |
| Above 100% | The run used fewer recorded actions than 3BV, which chording can make possible |
This table explains the formula only. It does not assign unsupported labels such as beginner, elite or world-class.
How can efficiency exceed 100%?
3BV counts the minimum left-click workload without treating a chord as several separate reveals. A chord is one recorded action that can open multiple safe neighbours, so the action count can finish below 3BV.
What is a good efficiency target?
Use your own comparable runs as the target. Compare the same difficulty and mode, then check whether wasted reveals, unnecessary flags or unproductive chords decrease across several games. The canonical Best Players comparison lets you select Efficiency and inspect current platform results without turning a filtered query URL into a separate crawl target.
Why is efficiency different from speed?
Efficiency measures actions; 3BV/s measures board value per second. A player can click efficiently and still pause between actions. Read efficiency with time and 3BV/s rather than treating one metric as the complete skill score.
Work out a board's values with the 3BV calculator, and use the efficiency guide to review click choices.
Compare efficiency on similar boards
Efficiency measures click economy, not raw speed. Compare results within the same difficulty and play style, then read 3BV/s beside it. A careful high-efficiency solve can still be slow, while a fast solve can include several unnecessary clicks.
