Beginner Minesweeper Leaderboard: Fastest 9x9 Players

This table ranks accepted games recorded on Minesweeper.now by best completion time and shows 3BV/s and efficiency as supporting metrics.

This is a platform leaderboard, not an official cross-platform world-record list. Filter by difficulty and season, or switch to the separate No-Guessing pool.

Every ranked run below was played on the standard Beginner board: 9x9 cells, 10 mines, which works out to about 12.3 percent mine density. The table lists best verified time along with the 3BV of the board they solved and their 3BV/s, so you can see how a result was earned and not just how the clock ended.

What Counts as a Good Beginner Time

A good Beginner time is one that places well in a named 9x9 sample. The table above shows accepted Minesweeper.now results only; the time-percentile tool compares your finish with the same live platform distribution instead of using a fixed cutoff.

Compare Standard with Standard and No-Guessing with No-Guessing. Their generators use different rules, so even identical dimensions and mine counts do not make their raw times interchangeable.

For personal improvement, record several games on the same settings and compare their median with your earlier median. A single personal best can come from a favourable opening; a repeated shift across several games is stronger evidence of progress.

3BV and 3BV/s on 9x9 Boards

3BV counts each opening once and each remaining safe cell outside an opening once. That makes it a property of the exact layout, not a score invented from the final time.

Dividing 3BV by elapsed seconds gives 3BV/s. Read it beside time: time determines the ranking position, while 3BV/s shows how quickly the measured board workload was cleared.

How to Climb the Beginner Leaderboard

Use repeated Beginner boards to make the two basic deductions automatic: when a number needs every hidden neighbour, those cells are mines; when its mines are already accounted for, every other neighbour is safe.

Then compare time, 3BV/s and efficiency across several accepted runs. The three values separate clock speed, measured board workload and extra clicking instead of treating one unusually open board as the whole story.

What this Beginner ranking measures

This table keeps one active best result per player for the Beginner board. Time sets the order; 3BV/s explains how quickly the player solved the board's required work, while efficiency shows how much of each action was useful. Read all three together before comparing two runs.
